iMX233-OLinuXino image with TV video output for console

Image

Dimitar Gamishev generated Linux Kernel image and rootfs with console using the framebuffer and the TV video output. I uploaded these image in SOFTWARE/TV-CONSOLE folder at GitHub.

Now you do not need USB-SERIAL-CABLE to work with iMX233 in console mode as you can do same with USB keyboard and TV attached to the board.

There is still something to tweak on the Kernel as the first left column of characters are missing and the last line of the rows is also missing, I guess this is something with the Kernel setup.

If somebody have worked with iMX233 and TV video output with PAL settings please help🙂

The missing characters are probably due to overscan. This is normal on TVs.
You probably just need to adjust your modeline file(s).

Greetings. I’ve been interested in the imx233 qfp for a little project and just come across this site. This may be a little off topic, but I hope someone knowlegable wouldn’t mind to clarify something for me🙂 . The datasheet indicates that the qfp part only supports 8bit rgb, but looking at the pinouts show that the lcd is 18bits wide but shared with flash. Does anyone know if the full 18bit lcd interface is available if flash memory is not used? Thanks!!

could you point me to the sources used to build the latest image? The overscan problem is not yet fixed, and I’d like to try to fix it, but I’m not sure exactly which versions of the different sources were used.

I cant find source either for imx233 pal codec
    BUT!
it is possible to try find here:
    https://github.com/xobs/linux-2.6.28.mx233-falconwing/blob/master/arch/arm/mach-stmp3xxx/tvenc.c
    and
    http://linux-fsl-imx51.sourcearchive.com/documentation/2.6.31-605.9/tvenc_8c-source.html

I mean to grab whole version of kernel and compile
It seems that imx233 uses such tv encoder…
    At least something..
