50 PCS A13-OLinuXino-WIFI-DEV shipped today to developers

Today DHL pickup the first 50 pcs A13-OLinuXino-WIFI-DEV and in the next days they will reach the developers all around the world. We got developers from such far away places like Reunion island. Looking at the map this seems like paradise in the Indian Ocean, I may go there to develop when retire ๐Ÿ™‚

We are looking forward for the feedback and the projects which you guys are going to do with A13. Please keep an eye at http://linux-sunxi.orgย what I hear is that the uboot now is complete and we will have decent Linux kernel running on A13 this month.

I have to appologize to the developers from Russia: all couriers we work with FedEx, TNT, DHL refused to take parcels to Russia due to the complex local import customs procedures, so we had to mail these by post. Our experience says the AIRMAIL parcels to Russia arrive in 1-2 week2, so there will be no significant delay with the A13 boards receipt.

Woot – just like waiting for Xmas! ๐Ÿ™‚ I shall be using mine as a carputer to completely replace the multi-function display (MFD) in a Gen 2 Prius. As well as the normal carputer functions I need to use GPIO to interface to all the vehicle electronics (A/C, Radio, Trip meter etc.) as these are all controlled by the MFD. I will also need to add a CAN interface.

Is it correct that a 16:9 VGA display will work via the existing VGA connector?

we sent board to allwinner so they can initialize the video controller correctly
at the moment some intelligent displays display the video correctly
we track down the problem and it’s like this:
the video controller which generate the RGB stream do not go to 0 after the horizontal line is over but stay in same level until the new RGB date is shifted, this drive crazy most of the monitors as it have RGB signal during the H/Vsync pulses
it’s matter of software to make the video controller to output 0 when the line is over
of course this could be patched hardware with small PIC for instance which to shut down the RGB lines with the proper timing but why to add hardware to fix software bug??? ๐Ÿ™‚

I ordered one later the same day and received a hand-generated confirmation that it would be dispatched on Monday (ie today), so presumably not.

Mine arrived today to rural Colorado, USA. DLH doesn’t deliver here anymore so DHL put into the regular mail in Denver. It was shipped from Olimex on Sept 5. That’s great service!! Thanks. The board boots up ok and although the video is a bit odd it does work somewhat on my 1600×900 display.

How can it be that the couriers are refusing parcels to Russia?
I’m getting a lot of packages every week, by TNT, DHL and UPS from european suppliers, and by FedExp or UPS from US. And usually it is various electronic parts (mostly from farnell). There was never ever any problem, everything is arriving in 2-7 days. From 10g bunch of resistors and capacitors to 20kg vintage synth. In cases when customs declaration is required or unclear, I call or visit the customs office myself.

What exactly do they tell you? I cannot believe there could be any real problem for the _sender_.

this is really odd as I asked all couriers we work with: FedEx, TNT and DHL and they all said we can ship to Russia only documents

Most of european packages I get are sent by UPS (though sometimes by TNT and DHL). Is there any chance of seeing UPS among your couriers? Or re-asking your current couriers? In fact they _can_ do it, because they _are_ doing it.

MOD-WIFI-RTL8188CU is USB to WIFI module and will not work with UEXT connector as the interface for this module is USB

I’m not very sure what you mean with these questions, if you want to use WIFI module for A13 you can buy A13-OLinuXino-WIFI and it have it inside, if you want to use external WIFI module with A13 you can use USB-WIFI module, the module for UEXT is for use with UEXT connector boards, sure A13 have such connector, but to make it work you should write your own Linux/Android driver for this module, are you capable to do this? and why on earth you would like to use EUR 30 UEXT WIFI module when lower cost USB-WIFI solution with all drivers is already there???
