A20-OLinuXino Laser Cut plastic enclosure

People keep asking us if A20-OLinuXino have plastic enclosure.

I have to admit that when we designed it we didn’t though for enclosure as our target was to make development board where everything is open for access.

Today we laser cut two plates on top and bottom of A20-OLinuXino, it’s hard to call them “enclosure” but they will protect OLinuXino from accedently droping metal parts on it which to cause shorts.

It consist of two plexyglass plates, four M3 screws and 8 plastic washers which assembly together.

on back you can see there are four additional holes where you can screw 2.5″ SATA HDD

SATA sets of cables which plugs directly to SATA 2.5″HDD and OLinuXino’s SATA and SATA PWR connector will be available next week.

We will add the A20-ENC to our web shop next week, the price will be around EUR 4.00

Nice. I’ve hoped for something like that since similar recent Chinese dev boards already come with such plates, which are a nice and cheap way to have at least some minimal protection for the otherwise totally naked board.

By the way, what happened to your “Recent Comments” column? Since yesterday, it only shows “There are no public comments available to display.”, although there were new comments. Please restore the feature.

I see the recent comment just fine, maybe it’s related to your browser?

Maybe, but as I said, it worked yesterday morning but didn’t in the evening, and I didn’t change the browser in between. So, it must be some server-side issue. I’ll take a closer look at it some time later, possibly.

That is correct. Well, I guess, if you can confirm this, I won’t be able to do anything about this. Too bad, but this seems to be the unfortunate fate of many sites over the recent years: some day, they silenty stop working because some carefree fresh web talents are hired to enhance a working site but who only succed at disimproving it. A shame.

Haha, just wrote about the new, carefree generation of web developers, but what do I find after submitting my comment: they got it to work again. Well done. I’m still sceptical about the future. There are too many web developers who neither do nor will care, I fear.

It would be nice if you could think of more industrial versions of your development boards which would be interesting for smaller companies at least.

nicely done for an afterthought. I especially like the SATA connection possibility. And the price is definitely right. Thank you!

I would like to suggest releasing the various dimensions and details and allow someone who, like me, lives far from Bulgaria to build our own? $ 4.00 is a perfectly fine price, but the package is not worth shipping to South Africa 🙂

I made my pre-estimations before I got the bill from the laser cutting, sorry for this EUR 2 price explosion but the price I announced was pre-estimated 🙂
