A20-OLinuXino-MICRO is popular and reliable Single Board Linux computer and people use them in hundreds of applications. One of the problem they face is the absence of good and reliable enclosure.
We are not good in mechanics and leave this to our customers. You remember NOAC engineering made their own:
Several months ago BOPLA from Germany start ordering A20-OLinuXino-MICRO boards and we were wondering what box company does with them, the mistery is solved, they have nice aluminum profile and for customer of theirs make enclosure with board inside:
The enclosure have VGA connector on the back and all connectors exposed on left and right:
The scratches on the alu surface on the pictures above are done personally by me, the box comes in perfect shape 🙂
Inside the box A20-OLinuXino-MICRO is rised on 4 columns:
This aluminum box solves all noise and outside interferences as works as Faraday case.
The back of the box has two grooves where you can attach telecope or U shape holder.
The part number I see in the box is: 92850142.SYS1
The profiles used are 92850150, 92850200
I still can’t get price from Bopla for these enclosures, but I guess they will be expensive than A20-OLinuXino-MICRO 🙂
One other customer of ours made their own box for A20-OLinuXino-MICRO with 4.3″ and 7″ LCDs, they made ticket payment system for buses with it and the box has also bar code reader and RFID reader. I’m waiting pictures from them to post.
And one week ago another customer send me these pictures:
This last design seems easiest to make with laser cut and bending.

When OLIMEX will start offering some/all of these beautiful boxes?
Even expensive it makes sense for some projects to use good aluminum and well designed boxes 🙂

how can you power on and off the A20-OLinuXino-MICRO in that box, if the buttons are hidden?

Virtually all allwinner based things are power-on by default, once you connect power supply. So it takes just connecting power supply, device is fully operational at this point. Power button is rarely needed or used and makes sense only in some application. If allwinner device without button has been shut down by software means, all it takes is a power cycle (i.e. one can detach and reattach power supply).

Would be perfect if one can make it by JUST laser cutting. Laser cutting is easily affordable and cheap and so it is prototyping and custom devices friendly. It takes just drawing CAD file and laser cutters are common even in small towns these days. Hard to say the same about bending.
Bopla case … um, Bopla known for awful prices and it looks unsuitable for many kinds of in-situ control panels and somesuch – “excavator monitoring” thing and second design by Olimex customers are more interesting in this regard.
