Wow, it seems there really is a demand for such solutions, a recent Hackaday project with similar goals:

This is very interesting! Can we please get the pinout diagram?

yes! Good news! Looks like olimex guys really listens to customers! Patiently waiting for the “end of August”

Super cool, but why no isolation transformer? Isnt it non compliant with the poe standard now?

We wanted to have compact board where you can attach sensors. Adding insulation would make it bigger and expensiver, we will release such board later, but in the user cases we have in mind the insulation is not necessary as you just attach some sensors to the board via UEXT and do not need power supply cables.

What POE standard does it use?

That little thing looks perfect! Do you have any plans to get it CE certified? I’ve not found anything with both WiFi and Ethernet PoE that is.

I just bought one of these. My initial thoughts:
1) I am really happy it’s available for a good price. I had to buy on ebay as it was just too expensive with taxes directly from Olimex website.
2) I personally don’t think it’s a problem that there is no galvanic isolation between PoE and USB. This device is great for embedded sensors in the home. I appreciate it may not be compliant with standards, but to me this doesn’t matter if you remember to be careful. Once it’s installed (e.g. into the ceiling), nobody will need to plug in USB.
3) Personally I don’t need SD card or LiPo battery circuitry and would LOVE to see a smaller board!
4) Finally can I drill out the 2 little circles in the corners (same side as ESP)? Are they mounting holes?
