We just finished the routing of this new board, so the question is Guess what is it?
It uses Quectel EG21-G module which works anywhere in the world covering all GSM standards and frequencies. It also has GNSS build-in.
It also can connect to any network 2G-3G-4G whichever is available (sorry no 5G yet 😉 ).
Once the prototypes are ready and check we are preparing Crowd Supply campaign for it! Hint Fits perfect to LoRa-GATEWAY and allow connection where no wires and optics like mountain hubs, remote areas etc.
You can post here or retweet/share/boost on Twitter/Facebook/Mastodon/Diaspora and in Monday we will let Random.org to decide who will win one of our new eduArdu educational board.
Have a nice weekend!

It is A13-SOM-LTE, which you have been diligently developing since 2014.

LOL no, A13-SOM-LTE was developed for specific customer long time ago but the modules were hard to buy so we didn’t include in our product line, now this Quectel module is fresh and has much more capabilities

Is there a new EC21-G module? Not listed on Quectel site. These are CAT1 LTE.

picture says EC21 as this is KiCAD 3D model we found 🙂 but the modules we use are EG21-G, these are very new first samples were shipped this month

Guess what this is? Well, this is someone’s dream 😀
You already hinted heavily, so my guess is that this is a new barebones dev board for the module at hand – has USB debugging, LiPo charger, SD card, connector for base board (EVB). Can also be directly embedded into products.
P.s. Your first crowdfunding campaign – this is awesome! Be sure to prepare your pledge levels, different kits with accessories, etc and have some press releases ready to be send around tech sites. I mean, basically ask Leon what to do 😀

BTW this was just listed on Crowd Supply, hope there isn’t that much of a competition between the 2 boards:

EC21 != EG21 EG is Global and support all GSM and LTE standards
May 22, 2019 @ 23:49:03
Seems they also have a “global” version, it just adds +19 USD to the US-only option (campaign now live).

It looks like Cellular + GPS shield for beaglebone boards.
Apr 21, 2019 @ 10:38:51
Well, since it have relatively low speed gsm and gps capabilities, and can run on battery, I assume it’s some kind of tracking module.
