I also did one some time ago with a lime2 and the 15″ FHD display- not entirely with olimex modules; I also did some custom PCBs 🙂

The A20 CAN interface is used to connnect with my autopilot (also open source on github), and this year I added an USB-connected LCD external display (look for edisplay in the marine_chartplotter git). It is can control tbe autopilot, and can relay informations from opencpn.
