ESP32-C3-DevKit-Lipo is EUR 6.00 Open Source Hardware compact development board with:

  • RISC-V running on 160Mhz
  • 400KB RAM, 8K data RAM
  • 4MB Flash
  • Two headers (soldered) with power supply and GPIO signals
  • ESP-PROG-C compatible rescue connector (if you mess with bootloader)
  • USB-C for programming and JTAG debugging
  • LiPo battery charger allowing handheld applications with single LiPo battery
  • 4 mount holes

This is all you need to get started with RISC-V programming in C and Assembly.

Shteryana Shopova recently did RISC-V workshop with this board and explained how to setup your tools for programming and debugging. Here you can find her work.

ESP32-DevKit-Lipo, ESP32-POE and ESP32-POE-ISO boards now have option with external antenna and all our ESP32 boards can be build in extended temperature range -40+105C for demanding applications

ESP32-POE-ISO

Our popular ESP32-DevKit-Lipo, ESP32-POE and ESP32-POE-ISO now has option with external antenna, so you can use them even with metal boxes. The external antenna extends their range by 20-30%.

We stock now ESP32 modules with 16MB of Flash, so if you run out of memory you can order any of our ESP32 boards with 16MB Flash module too.

Also we have ESP32 modules in extended temperature range -HT (high temperature) which works from -40C up to 105C for demanding applications.

ESP32-WROOM-32 WiFi/Bluetooth module is in stock!

esp32-wroom32-1

ESP32-WROOM-32 modules are in stock now!

Again these are from the very first lot and with limited supply. To give chances to more developers to try them we will not allow more than 3 modules per order.

This module is good only if you develop your own board. For these who are not good with the soldering iron and SMD components soldering our advice is to wait for new supply of ESP32-CoreBoards or our own ESP32-EVB which will come with two Relays, Two buttons, SD-card connector, Ethernet 100Mbit and all signals on prototyping friendly 0.1″ step connectors.

Thanks for all who posted tips on our blog about ESP32-EVB feature wishlist!

EDIT: there was question on Twitter if these are original Espressif parts and why there is no FCC/CE markinig, my guess is that the certification is not complete, as it’s in the datasheet but not on module body. The modules come directly from Espressif, as you can see from reel label they are manufactured October 15th 2016 and one week later are in our stock for sale 🙂

ESP32-CoreBoard is sold out, ESP32-EVB design has started

esp8266-evb-bat-1

ESP32 is really hot, the first lot we got sold out for couple of days. If we didn’t put the restriction for one module per order it would be sold out in matter of hours, as people wanted to buy x5 and x10.

ESP32-WROOM-32 modules are shipped from Espressif and we wait them to arrive next week.

Meantime we started the design of our ESP32-EVB board.

What we think so far is to have these features:

  • power supply from 5V
  • LiPo charger and step up converter to allow un-interruptable power supply
  • Two relays 220VAC/15A
  • Two user buttons
  • UEXT connector to which you can connect many of our sensor UEXT boards, or to program the board with serial cable same way like ESP8266-EVB
  • status LEDs

With the two relays you will be able to switch on and off two different appliances.

With the sensors on UEXT you will be able to measure temperature, light, moisture etc. and log them.

The plan is to complete the design in October and start selling this board in November.

Our target is to release this EVB for EUR 15.00.

If you think we should add something else let us know.

First ESP32-DevKitC development kits in Europe will be in stock next week

esp32

We have good news! The first ESP32 development kits in Europe will be next week for sale in our shop.

The quantity is very limited due to the high demand Espressif still can’t fill all the orders they got, so we will got less than 100 to start with.

If your WiFi project needs to go to next level and you want WiFi +BLE in same package ESP32 is the right device for you.

The technical resources are here. Due to the limited supply we will not process orders in which basket is put more than one ESP32-DevKitC, please give chance to more people to evaluate 🙂

The price is EUR 17.00

New product soon to be in stock: MOD-WIFI-AR9271-ANT WiFi USB dongle with Open Source Firmware and Linux drivers

MOD-WIFI-AR9271-ANT-1

AR9271 chipset is the only one with Open Source Firmware and Linux drivers. It has build in Kernel support since Kernel 2.6.35 so if you want to run GNU/Linux clean of non-free binary blobs with unknown content this is the device for you. It will work with your desktop PC, laptop, or SBC like OLinuXino and Raspberry Pi etc.

MOD-WIFI-AR9271-ANT samples are tested and proven to work with all our OLinuXinos and have excellent WiFi reception due to the huge antenna they came with. We have pending order and they will be in stock very soon.

Qualcomm with new dual band Low Power WIFI Solution QCA4004

qualcomm

The Low Cost WiFi revolution made by Texas Instruments CC3xxx and Esspressif ESP8266 is not escaped unnoticed by the big boys in the wireless business.

Qualcomm has new product QCA4004 which targets same market but has lot more to offer:

  • Dual-band 2.4 GHz/5 GHz
  • Low energy
  • IPv4/IPv6 Networking
  • SSL Client with AES encryption
  • RTOS and Toolchain for code on chip
  • USB 2.0,  SPI/SDIO, UART, HS-UART, I2C, 2xI2S, GPIOs
  • Commercial: 0 to 85˚ C (case) Industrial: -40 to 85˚ C (ambient) temperature grades

Here is the flyer and the datasheet.

So far the official quotes for the chip through the official distributors are high, but we know Qualcomm is leader in the wireless solutions and can manufacture efficiently, so once these get in main stream production the prices may drop below ESP8266 prices 🙂

New Open Source Hardware Product in stock: ESP8266-EVB-BAT with build-in LiPo charger and step up converter

ESP8266-EVB-BAT

ESP8266-EVB-BAT is further enhancement of ESP8266-EVB. It’s with dimensions 51.3 x 56.6 mm and with shape to fit in Hammond Box 1593KBK.

The version of this board in box is named ESP8266-EVB-BAT-BOX is perfect if you want to make handheld WiFi gadgets :

ESP8266-EVB-BAT-BOX
The relay connector is Wago two part connector, which allow easy to connect and disconnect.

As name saysESP8266-EVB-BAT is exclusively designed to may work on battery. It have input voltage sense, build-in intelligent charger for LiPo battery and battery connector, so you can use any of our existing LiPo batteries for your next handheld WIFI device.

The battery charges can charge with 200 or 400mA and selectable by SMT jumper on the board. On board there is also step-up converter which provide 5V power supply to the relay and module. So if battery is attached and external power is applied the charger will charge the Lipo battery to maximum, then if external power is cut the battery will automatically supply power to the board. GPIO16 input is connected and sense external power supply.

ESP8266-EVB-BAT have two connectors: UEXT connector which allow Olimex UEXT modules to be connected and driven by IoT-Firmware using simple HTML/JavaScript and CON1 where all ESP8266 resources are available together with charger circuit signals and power supply.
