ESP32-LyraT is low cost IoT speech recognition board. It can work with many audio sources and have provisions to connect speakers, camera and LCD display.

The board documentation is skinny as this board is very new and we got limited quantity of one of the very first produced boards.

 

iCE40HX8K-EVB OSHW FPGA board is in stock

iCE40HX8K-EVB is upgrade of our iCE40HX1K-EVB with more logic cells FPGA so bigger Verilog projects could be synthesized.

GPIO1 34 pin bus is same as iCE40HX1K-EVB and all DAC, ADC, IO, etc modules are compatible, on top of this there are plenty of additional GPIOs on 4 40 pin 0.05″ step connectors.

512KB fast SRAM is on board, with iCE40-IO board you  can connect VGA monitor and PS2 keyboard, so you can make your own custom CPU (for instance RISC-V) computer with monitor and keyboard.

 

 

A64-OLinuXino Open Source Hardware board with 64-bit Cortex-A53 processor is in released

A64-OLinuXino OSHW board is now released. Current revision is Rev.C.

Features are:

  • A64 Cortex-A53 64-bit SoC from Allwinner
  • AXP803 PMU with Lipo charger and step-up

  • 0 / 4 or 16GB of industrial grade eMMC

For the moment we have three models:

  • 1G0G with 1GB RAM, no Flash, no WiFi/BLE
  • 1G4GW with 1GB RAM, 4GB eMMC and WiFi/BLE
  • 2G16G-IND with 2GB RAM, 16GB eMMC with industrial grade components -40+85C

The optional connectors and SPI Flash etc may be assembled upon request for small fee.

ESP32-EVB really took us lot of time to complete mostly due to the not so complete documentation around Ethernet and our own silly errors. Also we wanted to add so many interfaces there to may people evaluate them all: Ethernet, CAN, Infrared, Relays LiPo UPS etc etc and the board become 75×75 mm. The price also went from EUR 22 to EUR 26.

In parallel we quietly were working on stripped version named ESP32-GATEWAY, as the name says we wanted just to keep here the connectivity: WiFi, BLE, Ethernet, USB for programming and micro SD card.

All available GPIOs are made on 0.1″ step strip at the bottom of the board, and two nice mount holes:

Today we assembled the first prototypes and we will test tomorrow. If everything is OK we will run production. We already have 100 blank PCBs ready as after so much time spent on ESP32-EVB we do not expect any troubles, but still wanted to reduce the risk to throw in the garbage bin more than 100 boards if we missed something.

So hold your breath if everything is OK we will have 100 boards for sale next week 🙂

A20-OLINUXINO-MICRO now available also in Industrial temperature grade -45+85C

We are selling for some time already A20-OLinuXino-MICRO Rev.J where few things were improved:

  1. We changed the LAN PHY from Realtek to Microchip as latter is more reliable supplier for both commercial and industrial temperature components, we searched desperately Realtek PHY in industrial temperature grade but without success.
  2. We extended the input working voltage from 6-16VDC to 8-24VDC
  3. We changed the NAND Flash to eMMC (but old NAND style flash is still possible to assembly)

The Ethernet PHY change requires new patches on the Uboot and Linux images which are already uploaded.

ESP32-EVB our new board for IoT first prototypes are ready

ESP32-EVB is our new board with ESP32-WROOM32 module. It has:

  • ESP32-WROOM32 module
  • two relays 10A/250VAC
  • Ethernet 100Mb interface
  • LiPo charger and step up converter allowing ESP32-EVB to run from LiPo battery
  • microSD card connector
  • two user buttons
  • UEXT connector to attach different sensors and modules
  • 40 pin GPIO 0.1″ step connector with all resources of ESP32
  • 5V power jack
  • three mount holes

Now time to write some examples and if everything works to launch production.

ESP32-CoreBoard is sold out, ESP32-EVB design has started

ESP32 is really hot, the first lot we got sold out for couple of days. If we didn’t put the restriction for one module per order it would be sold out in matter of hours, as people wanted to buy x5 and x10.

ESP32-WROOM-32 modules are shipped from Espressif and we wait them to arrive next week.

Meantime we started the design of our ESP32-EVB board.

What we think so far is to have these features:

  • power supply from 5V
  • LiPo charger and step up converter to allow un-interruptable power supply
  • Two relays 220VAC/15A
  • Two user buttons
  • UEXT connector to which you can connect many of our sensor UEXT boards, or to program the board with serial cable same way like ESP8266-EVB
  • status LEDs

With the two relays you will be able to switch on and off two different appliances.

With the sensors on UEXT you will be able to measure temperature, light, moisture etc. and log them.

The plan is to complete the design in October and start selling this board in November.

Our target is to release this EVB for EUR 15.00.

iCE40HX8K-EVB OSHW prototypes are ready to test

What you see is our new iCE40HX8K-EVB prototype.

It has same layout as our first iCE40HX1K-EVB board with same 34pin bus connector where iCE40-IO, iCE40-DIO, iCE40-ADC and iCE40-DAC modules could snap together.

We made all connections backward compatible so all code for 1K will work on 8K too. just here you have much more resources and more GPIOs which are wired to 4 small 40 pin 0.05″ step connectors. These can be connected to external boards either with cable either with female matching connectors which are in our shop.

Now we are testing for silly mistakes, if everything is OK will run it in production next month.

The price will be EUR 39.95

 

A64-OLinuXino update, the Rev.B design will be possible to produce in industrial grade -40+85C, dual voltage eMMC 3.3/1.8V

A64-OLinuXino first prototypes were made in March and lot of people wonder why we do not release for mass production this board yet 🙂 so we got lot of e-mails and I see there is need for blog post with update.

Here is the recap from the first prototypes:

  • RAM memory works at amazing 667Mhz clock much more than A20 and other boards and the board works stabile under stress tests for many hours
  • eMMC works fine, we didn’t test NAND Flash due to the missing Linux support probabbly this will stay just as option and we will assembly the boards with eMMC which is faster, better and in industrial temperature
  • Linux Kernel is 3.10.65 and works fine, we managed to run all peripherials
  • Audio In and Out is working
  • HDMI is working
  • USB host is working
  • USB-OTG is working
  • WiFi+BT is working
  • MIPI interface – no display which to use to test, any ideas?
  • HSIC interface – don’t know how to test, any ideas?
  • LiPo charger and step up works
  • LCD works
  • Ethernet Gigabit interface works just in master mode

While we worked on this board we found new PHY from Microchip which can be ordered in industrial temperature, we tested it with A20 and it works fine (we already have LIME2 version with it which is on prototype), so we decided to re-design the Ethernet part of A64-OLinuXino with it, this will allow us to produce A64-OLinuXino in industrial temperature grade -40+85C.

Another major upgrade for Rev.B is around eMMC interface, we re-designed it as per your feedback to be possible to work on programmable 3.3V and 1.8V thus to allow faster transfers.

Rev.B is routed at 90% we need 1 more week to complete it and run new prototypes. If everything goes smoothly we will be ready by end of the month.

 

First PIC32-EMZ64 boards for Embedded World are now testing

This board was made from the design idea to mass production in just few weeks 🙂

The PIC32 microcontroller model was choosen January 21st, so we had 1 week to design and PCB layout the board, 1 week to produce the blank PCB, make stencils, prepare software demo code and one week to setup the assembly line and run the PCBs for asssembly.

Today we got first batch of the assembled boards.

For these who do not remember this board is using the new PIC32MZ2048EFH064 with 2MB of Flash, 512KB RAM, Ethernet, CAN and fast 18Msps 12bit ADC!

On the board you can see:

  • OLED LCD 128×64 pixels
