TuxCon organized Arduino Day in PMG Konstantin Velichkov in Pazardzhik

arduino-day

Saturday 16.03.2019 was Arduino Day and celebrated all around the world by Arduino enthusiasts. On Arduino web site there is dedicated page with map where all events are listed.

TuxCon organized Arduino Day in PMG “Konstantin Velichkov” – Pazardzhik. The youngsters were around 20 and we split them in 5 teams with mentors.

eduArdu was used as educational board and it was really pleasant surprise to see how dedicated were all participants – they worked 4 hours and didn’t want to take a rest.

Some of them has never seen Arduino, but studied the existing demo codes and start to modifying them. Some even try to make their own snake game on the LED matrix. Another nice code was done for controlling the eduArdu RGB LED remotely with cell phone via the IR receiver, we expect these codes to go as pull requests to our GitHub repository soon 🙂

Obviously their teachers did good job, no wonder they got so many prizes:

TuxCon is open to organize such events in other schools too, if you want your school to have similar event please contact TuxCon.

Arduino Day 2018 in Plovdiv

arduino

Arduino Day is on 12th of May and celebrating at near 500 locations all around the world.

TuxCon and Smarty Kids foundation are participating in this initiative and organize event in Plovdiv in Grand center from 15.00 to 17.30.

The event is free and anyone can participate and learn how to program ESP8266-EVB boards with Arduino and to control servo motors remotely.

The original Arduino map is wrong, so if you want to participate please do not go to Saedinenie but to Plovdiv 🙂

The room has limited seats so we advice you to register in advance. If there are more people interested the organizers are ready to do it again for all these who can’t manage to register on time.

Our next Help Day is 28th of May

help-153094_960_720

What is help day?

It’s once per month event (usually at the end of the month) where you can come to our place and get help with using our boards.

Sure you can bring stuff not made by us, and we will try to help with it too, but we are most familiar with our own boards and will be of much more help with them.

If you have project using our boards and something doesn’t work as expected, bring it here and we will do our the best to help you.

Our engineers will be available and you can ask questions and get help from the developers.

Or if you plan something but hesitate how to implement it we may help you to pickup the proper boards/sensors for it.

We do not guarantee that we will solve for minutes every problem you have, but at least we will try.

No e-mails – but good old face to face communication. Unfortunately we can offer this just once per month:)

Our Help day for May is on 28th – Saturday, starting from 14.00 o’clock to not rush the people who will come from outside Plovdiv.

HELP3

They had the same talk at OpenFest but due to the limited time there they couldn’t show all demos, here they had plenty of time to show how core-minimal distribution is made, and how you can add your own programs to the distro.

What are the good practices when you build Linux with Yocto and why it’s choosen de-facto for Industry standard by all big players working for industrial and automotive applications.

We show H3-OLinuXino and A33-OLinuXino and of course the new DIY Laptop plastic parts:

HELP4

Everyone was able to touch and feel the different parts and plastics and to see the quality.

HELP5

The LCD is special laptop edition very thin and light with just 2.8 mm thickness.

HELP6

The battery is 8000mAh also very thin.

HELP7

you can see the laptop size compared with A20-OLinuXino-MICRO

HELP8

Total dimensions are 29 x 20 x 1 cm with final weight less 1 kg – a bit less the size of A4 paper.

Our Help Day for September is this Saturday 26th of September in our training building

Our next Help Day is this Saturday 26/09 at 11.00 o’clock in our training building.

If you need help with your project, or you don’t know how to use some of our boards you can come this Saturday at our Help day.

We got a number of requests to make KiCAD workshop in Plovdiv like the one we did in Sofia at Hack Conf this weekend, so if you want to get familiar with KiCAD you can come on the Help day with your laptop with KiCad pre-installed and to learn how to use it 🙂

We use KiCAD extensively this year and already got more than 20 boards designed with it, so we got some experience we can share.

Labor Day Holidays

Image

Yes, in Bulgaria we celebrate the Labor day by not working!

It’s not a secret that here on the Balkans our politics do not like to work too much and try to find reason to have celebrations and holidays. If you check the official Holidays in Bulgaria for this year are 13 working days, when include the official 20 work days vacation and 104 weekend days the simple calculation shows that our politics think that it’s enough to work 228 days per year or to have rest one day after you work 1.6 days. In other hand they are wondering why the product generated here can’t compare with the product generated in the more developed countries. I can give them a hint – to look how many days people works in US.

This year our government shines with the decision for 6 days official Labor day celebration. So effectively from April 30th to May 6th no couriers or transport companies will work.

Our online shop is working, our shipping will pack and print UPS/DHL/FedEx labels, but all orders will be put in big bins and will be pickup by the couriers at May 7th.

Sorry for all delays in the shipments!

Long live the Labor!
