ESP32-ADF based SIP Phone looks really cool with LittlevGL

We blogged a while ago about one of the demo code we work on for ESP32-ADF – SIP IP phone. Our vacation delay a bit this project, but now it’s almost ready and we want to share some details.

We used LittlevGL framework for the UI. You can see on the picture above how the phone app looks on the LCD.

LittlevGL required some touching as default didn’t work well with the touch screen, but we managed to add support, the touch panel recognize gestures like slide, tap etc.

We need few more days to finish dialing sounds etc details and will upload on GitHub our patches for LittlevGL and our SIP IP phone demo.

We are so impressed with the result that we may release soon all in one LCD+ESP32-ADF and camera so we enhance the phone with camera and open more applications like Home automation WiFi Door-Phone, security panel with sound and video and other apps based on this configuration.

ESP32-ADF Internet Radio example now uses LoBo with 2.8″ TFT LCD and touch screen

 

The Internet Radio demo for ESP32-ADF now includes MOD-LCD2.8RTP and LoBo for UI. Updated version is uploaded on GitHub.

Google assistant, Google DialogFlow, Amazon Alexa and internet radio demo code for ESP32-ADF are uploaded on GitHub

Some demo codes for ESP32-ADF are now uploaded on the GitHub.

Google Assistant demo will allow you to build your very own Google Assistant speaker, display and to integrate these services in your future product.

Internet Radio is preliminary and we still work on the UI to be uploaded later this week.

Amazon Alexa is the GA competitor and you can embed it with your Home assistant and automate your home.

Google Dialogflow is easy way to use Google AI in your products and make them voice controllable. It builds voice to text service and you will receive plain text delivered from the voice the device listen to. This way you can add voice control to every of your products. All you need is internet connection.

The SIP phone demo is also to be uploaded later this week.

Our first batch of ESP32-ADF is sold out now we work on second batch but will have no time to complete before our Summer vacation, so new stock will be available after August 18th.

Today we made our first Alexa prototype:

and we spoke with ESP32-ADF running WiFi SIP phone, you do not need PC to make free calls all around the world to other people with VoIP phones!

Surprisingly there was no any lag caused by the WiFi and it works as good as the commercial wired SIP VoIP phones.

We add now MOD-LCD2.8RTP with touch screen on ESP32-ADF UEXT connector and write some nice graphical UI then will upload the VoIP phone demo code next week.

We do same for the Internet Radio player demo – nice graphical UI, so user can select which radio station to connect to.

Our popular ESP32-DevKit-Lipo, ESP32-POE and ESP32-POE-ISO now has option with external antenna, so you can use them even with metal boxes. The external antenna extends their range by 20-30%.

We stock now ESP32 modules with 16MB of Flash, so if you run out of memory you can order any of our ESP32 boards with 16MB Flash module too.

Also we have ESP32 modules in extended temperature range -HT (high temperature) which works from -40C up to 105C for demanding applications.

ESP-EYE Espressif AI face detection camera supporting their AI framework is in stock

There is lot of noise around Espressif new development board with 2Mpix camera which allow to develop with their ESP-WHO AI framework. ESP-EYE was announced in january and we were waiting to be released.

Now the waiting is over! We got limited quantity from their first production run and ESP-EYE is in stock.

If you want to be among the first to play with Espressif framework for Machine Learning and AI hurry up as the quantity is limited and will not last long.

NES emulator on ESP32-POE + MOD-LCD2.8RTP

ESP32 NES emulator allows you to run your old games on ESP32. We modified it to work with MOD-LCD2.8RTP which has touch panel so you can use it as NES controller:

The modifications are included in SOFTWARE section of ESP32-POE but the example will work with any of our other ESP32 boards which has UEXT, like ESP32-EVB and upcoming ESP32-POE-ISO.

Next step is to add UEXTx5 and connect MOD-Wii-UEXT-NUNCHUCK as controller.

Open Source Hardware ESP32-POE board now has new version with 3000VDC galvanic insulation

ESP32-POE-ISO

ESP32-POE is one of our best selling boards, it’s low cost less than EUR 18 in single quantity and allow you to make IoT sensor network with existing Ethernet POE infrastructure.

The end node can provide up to 4W combined on +5V and +3.3V output to external components and circuits which is more than enough for most applications.

To simplify the design and lower the cost ESP32-POE has no galvanic insulation.

Some customers asked can we add such insulation – sure it’s possible, meet the new ESP32-POE-ISO. So here above on the picture you see first samples of the insulated POE board.

We wanted to keep is as similar to existing POE as possible, as you can see the new board is just 15 mm longer and keep same pinout on the connectors, allowing ESP32-POE to be directly replaced with ESP32-POE-ISO.

What are the benefits? Now you can safely debug your ESP32-POE-ISO while connected both to computer with USB cable and Ethernet POE cable.

For the insulation we use 2W DCDC converter with 3000VAC insulation. The available 400mA are split between ESP32 and external circuit and in most application will be sufficient.

The price of ESP32-POE-ISO is EUR 23.95 (only EUR 6 more than non-isolated ESP32-POE) in single quantity.

If 2W are not enough, we can produce same board with 3W DCDC which allow 600mA current, but the price will rise with another 3 EUR to EUR 26.95 in single quantity.
