A10S-OLinuXino-MICRO-4GB Developer edition is in stock

A10S-OLinuXino-MICRO is our new member of OLinuXino Low cost Open Source Hardware Linux computers.

A10S-OLinuXino is available in two versions with and without 4GB of NAND memory on board. The version without NAND starts from EUR 36 for 50+ pcs OEM orders and is only EUR 45 for single quantity. The price of A10S-OLinuXino-MICRO-4GB is EUR 44 for OEM 50+ order and EUR 55 for single quantity.

This board development started in November 2012, it was routed in December and the first prototypes were ready in January 2013, but there were some stability issues with the design, which took several iterations and prototypes before all problems were cleared.

Now all problems are gone, but to play safe We ran just small lot of “develper” edition, which we will spread among OLinuXino developers for further tests.

Meantime the boards from the developer edition will be put on our web for ordering too for everyone who wants to be among the first to play with A10S-OLinuXino 🙂

Normal production run will follow in couple of weeks, our guess is that there will be no any further changes from the developer edition, as we already changed lot of things during the development and everything works stabile now.

The difference with A13-OLinuXino is that A10S have HDMI output and native Ethernet 100Mbit on board.

A10S-OLinuXino-MICRO features are:

  • A10S Cortex-A8 processor at 1GHz, 3D Mali400 GPU, NEON coprocessor
  • 512MB RAM
  • USB High speed host with power control and current limiter
  • USB-OTG with power control and current limiter
  • HDMI output with ESD protectors
  • 100MBit native Ethernet
  • Audio Line-input
  • Audio Headphones output
  • UEXT connector
  • LCD connector to work with 4.3, 7.0, 10.1″ LCD modules from Olimex
  • 50 GPIOs on three GPIO connectors
  • microSD card connector
  • SD/MMC card connector
  • DEBUG-UART connector for console debug with USB-SERIAL-CABLE-F
  • STATUS LED
  • Power LED
  • 2KB EEPROM for MAC address and other storage
  • 5 BUTTONS with ANDROID functionality
  • Microphone input on connector (not populated)
  • composite TV-output on connector (not populated)
  • JTAG-DEBUG connector (not populated)
  • UART1 connector (not populated)
  • NAND Flash 4GB (optional)
  • 5V input power supply, noise immune design

We work now on the software support:

  • SD card image for Android 4.1
  • SD card image for Debian
  • NAND Flash images for Android 4.1
  • NAND Flash images for Debian

The Debian images come with full support for all peripherials, Python GPIO access, OpenCV, UVC, UEXT modules support by Python and C.
Android support for GPIO, I2C, SPI is work on progress but not finished.

Allwinner improved NAND flash support on A10S as we see about 40% speed improvement vs. A13 (i.e. 10MB/s vs 7MB/s write on NAND).

    Nice board. Just a question (newbie inside …) What is the needed material to program the board ? Is it possible to implement our own OS and then get back with the Debian image ?

    Does Olimex have any plan on those? What about non-Allwinner processors like the RK 3188 ?

      And i really hope Olimex will stick to that statement because it is really frustrating to work with companies that do not honour the GPL and/or release no documentation about their products. ( Or offer no real support )

    Is it available in industrial temperature range (at least -20..+70°C)? If yes, what is the cost difference?

      electronics have no problem to work at low temperature
      the problem with A10S is that it’s BGA and heats significant when run at 1Ghz
      A13 is much more suitable for industrial temperatures as running cool at 1Ghz

    I won’t be using the HDMi or video in production as this is going to be embedded. Do we have the usual non-gui-desktop access to this board using serial or ssh?
