Olimex is OSHWA member now

I already blogged for my visit in Rome for the OSHW Summit 2014.

While chatting there with Drew Fustini he asked me if Olimex is OSHWA member and I reallized that while being busy with developing OSHW projects Olimex actually forgot to become an formal OSHWA member, so when I returned back I quickly rectified this and applied for Supporting Corporate Membership.

Few weeks later I got this in my post box these nice stickers!

OSHWA

Now I just have to figure out  where to place them proudly!

Even though it changes nothing, congrats on becoming an official member! 🙂

Most excellent! Olimex is a shining example of open development from initial product idea through to shipping. The OLinuXino product line is a excellent example in the advantage of Open Source Hardware. Hope Olimex is able to present a talk at a future Open Hadware Summit!

Where are those lists of members and etc. that they mention on their website? 🙂

Open Hardware, with a undocumented big black soc in the middle. Hmmm.

blah! and bigger community and better linux support than SoCs with thousands of pages of datasheets 😉

Hum…Is that true?! How do people can study/modify something that is closed (aka the SoC chip)? Is your hardware all ‘that’ open?

oh you probably have semiconductor Fab at home and you are interested to see how the SoC works internally, so you can make your own chips at home? what else you need? the formula of the electrolyte capacitor so you can study how to make capacitors at home?
Please cut this BS, I have hear it many times and this is plain stupid. Open Source Hardware (have definition which you may read to learn what is) is hardware with OPEN DESIGN, so the schematic and PCB design are available in SOURCE format, so everyone can understand how your PRODUCT is designed, how it works and to may modify and make his own version (better) if he is capable of, not about what is inside every single component used in the design, which is just standard component: capacitor, transistor, resistor which you can buy

so… all your hardware rely on open drivers/firmware different from this http://linux-sunxi.org/Category:Proprietary_Software RIGHT?
